A Stupa?

I'm in a stupa!!!!...Never thought I would find myself saying something like that before today - Actually...I do not think I knew what a stupa was before today.

Deanna and I headed up to the mountains to pick up other BGF. She spent a week in the beautiful Rocky Mountains at the Shambhala Mountain Center with Courageous Women with Cancer.

Now...I have lived in the northern Colorado area most all my life...and though I knew that Shambhala was there...I did NOT know how wonderful it was! OR that there was stupa there!!

What a peaceful place!  We did lunch, had a short tour, visited the gift shop (of course) and then visited the stupa ~

I learned a LOT today -

Have you visited your stupa today??

This Stupa was so big that.... ( I feel like the old saying..."my dogs bigger than your dog"...do you remember that commercial?)

This Stupa stands 108 feet tall and contains three levels. A 48-foot square base with gates, stairways and openings on all four sides form the lower level. Inside is an assembly hall 33 feet square and 24 feet high. In its center is a large, golden statue of the Buddha sculpted in the Gandaran style.  Check it out ~ http://www.shambhalamountain.org/stupa-symbolism
