For years I was perturbed with the commercialization of holidays - Valentines Day being one of those days. 

I once was married on Valentines day, secretly, so that this day would always mean something to us...and it was a "secret" as to the reason why..certainly not "because" it was Valentines day alone.
The man I married on this day of love died 11 months later.

During these last 10 years, I have had the opportunity to rethink my thoughts on Valentines day - and I have now tweaked my thoughts about this special holiday and am glad to see it celebrated!

I believe that most people do need gentle reminders about what is important.  It is to bad that it has become so expensive to be reminded...but better to be reminded than to live a life with out these special days.

The one thing to remember is this - You can make a conscience effort to have these special days and live them, ANYTIME you want!

What I call the Christmas spirit needs to be remembered during other times of the year ~ These times will  bring us closer to our family and friends - remind us to slow down and be kinder to strangers, patience seems to glow a bit easier, along with the simple smile that brightens others hearts.
