Reading Between the Lines

In the last 10 years or so I have done most of my work online or on the computer. One thing I have been taught, (though sometimes forget) is that email and chat are not always the safest way to communicate!

Do to the simple fact that, as humans...we draw conclusions based on things that happen in our life. As we read through an email or chat...things can be taken out of context...a dangerous scenario....

I recall times when Kate and I were still the publishers of the Healing Path Magazine...my oh my, how things can be mistaken!!  Feuds could begin...over a simple "misread" email.. Especially on the sensitive subject of ..."your article has been declined"

"BUT WHY was my article declined???"  ...then the storytelling begins....in our heads......

Right then is when we need to stop (if we remember too) and ask questions.  It doesn't always mean we will like what we hear, but at least we hear what was meant.....and this is always good.

Of course this can happen in verbal communication as well....it simply seems to happen.......WAY TO MUCH...

SO....if you catch yourself "reading between the lines"....might it be a good idea to STOP and ask questions??? or at least STOP??

What say you???
